Any manual trans from a 352/390 type will bolt right in (not a 351). If your truck had a manual trans COLUMN shift, it has a different floor pan than a '66 that came with a factory 4 spd.
Junkyard shopping might be your best bet, or buy a really ratty parts truck with the trans you like. Just be sure to get every part possible, don't forget to put a pilot bearing into the back of the engine again for your manual trans. JC whitney and the like might have clutches, but don't have trans.Might want to try a local trans rebuilding shop, sometimes they have used units for sale.. Good Luck with your project!
OR....... you could take a toploader 4-speed, remove the shift rails and forks, plug the holes and mount a Jeep T-176 shifter on top of the transmission. Instant 4-speed that looks like it was original equipment. If you need any other information on this swap, e-mail me and I'll tell you all the particular issues concering the job.

My dad had a 66 that he replaced the original 352 with a 390, and the truck had the 3 speed on the column. It also had the overdrive transmission. That truck would run 110 mph in second gear with that overdrive trans. It wouldn't run much faster in high gear due to the tremendously high gear ratio that it had. I would think that this transmission would be a great choice for your application if you were able to find one. It was a really neat tranny. It had a small pull/push handle to take the trans in and out of overdrive. What was cool about it was that it had an electric kick down switch on the accelerator pedal that would act like an automatic transmission for a passing gear. The other thing that I remember about it was that it would only go into overdrive above 30 mph, leaving you with the ability to run near 60 in first gear! I have never seen anything like that transmission in any other vehicle.
