Big lift steering problems

I have a 81 F-250 IFS with approx. 11" front suspension lift, 10" rear lift and 4" body lift. My problem is that i can not figure out the steering. I tried flipping the tie rod ends and making a new bar from the pitman arm to the tie rod end but, all i got was sloppy steering. The tie rod bars move up and down before they move side to side. does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem other then going to a sold axle? thanks for the help in advance!!!!!!!!!!!!

o goodness!

you have 11" lift on TTB front axle and THEN a 4" BODY LIFT? and you are complaining about steering being sloppy?

i think you need to rethink this truck and make it a lil safer!

the steering geometry on a TTB is complicated when lifting b/c of the inverted-Y style.

i dunno if it will help in your case but i believe superlift makes a steering setup that is made for lifted trucks with TTB. a lot of your problems would be alleviated by going straight axle!

good luck!

EDIT.... ya here is what i was talking about http://www.superlift.com/accessories/superunner.asp
please refrain from making anymore steering parts!

EDIT X2... nevermind, it says it's only for lifts UP TO 6"

He can always buy 2 of them. Thats good for 12".

Seriously, 11" on a TTB.

Just do a SAS and save yourself a big headache.

So I got nailed by lightning last week. And it's the oddest thing but I think I've developed psychic abilities. Hmmm . . . I see . . in your future . . . an honorable mention on the Scary Steering page!

FWIW any tire that would justify that much lift should never be put on that TTB front end in the first place. It's just begging for the whole thing to fly to pieces. I don't care if it's strictly offroad or not, that setup is strictly suicidal.

Me and my neighber got the truck running yesterday and steering. What we ended up doing was going with a 2 link steering insteed of a 3 link. WORKED WOUNDERFUL!!!! heres a few pics of it running. I will try to get a few of the suspension when we get it cleaned up a bit....
