I hope you guys could help me out with this one. I have a brake controller in the from my dad's 98 Ram. I was thinking of mounting it in my truck but don't know where i want to stick it. If someone could post some pics of where they put theirs. Just so I can get an idea of where to mount it. Oh yeah this is for a 97 F150 4.6 Scab w/ towing package.
Wherever you mount it, make sure it's high enough so you can get to the manual control in a hurry; you don't want to be fumbling around for it if your trailer gets "squirrelly" on you.
You need to know what kind of controller it is and then see if you can locate the factory mounting instructions for it. Any controller will work if it is mounted level but some of the more recent designs allow more mounting flexibility with regard to angle.
If the leads are not labeled you may need the wiring diagram for it as well.
Some brands offer plug and play pigtails to adapt their brand of controller to the various truck brands controller plug.
Brake controllers can be (can be...) mounted just about anywhere you want.
Think first about the JAYZUSS!!! button though, as above. Wherever you naturally reach first is the best place, even if that means vertically on the door next to the wheel (which is my own preference).
DIRECTLY under the steering wheel is a bad idea, most of them are mounted to the right and just under the dash edge so they stick out about an inch or two.
