Well i took a chance and downsized from a f250 k/r, 4x4, 6.0, to a f150 scew lariat 4x4. After 800 miles, the alternator went out and left me stranded on the interstate at 1:30am in a bad part of town with my wife and kids with me. The dealer said it was the alternator, but I guess we'll see in due time. Ford sent roadside assistance immediately, service was great. Had to get a hotel, local dealer had it fixed within 24 hours. I had my local dealer change the brake pads to the aftermarket akebono ceramic pads at 450 miles due to brake dust. I have noticed that when I go into reverse, the brakes drag a bit making a noise, but the OEM brakes did the same thing with the factory pads so I did not bother to complain about it yet. Seems to happen more in the mornings after it has sat all night. It does not continue to drag after i use the truck for a while. Can this be fixed or will it eventually go away as the pads wear? I like the truck, I don"t miss the noise and ride of the 250. I feel like I am in a car now. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks!!!! Wade
That's pretty strange because a car will usually run on the battery until it is below voltage threshold. Usually you get a charge indication problem when the alternator starts acting up, but it should still keep running until the battery can't supply the needed supply.
Unless of course the gauge was down and you didn't notice it.
I had a small sound coming from the brakes also, it was the dust plate behind the rotor not the brake pad. You may want to check if that has been bent in to the rotor, if so just bend it back. Hope this helps..
