i think you should use something bigger, like an olds or buick or somthing along that line. like those early and mid seventies cars.

as far as what could handle the power, you can make any car handle the power, even building a partial subframe or full frame for it, look at the drag cars, they crank out lots of power.

weight would be the big concern, along with steering charterristics of having all that wieght up front and the brakes.

it could all be done if your bored enough and have the money though, even swapping in front suspension parts from a 2 wheel drive truck onto the car.

Put a straight axle under the front with leaf springs.

i had a dream like this one night... my dad had bought me like a 80-ish Camaro and it had a 7.3 PowerStroke in it. It was awesome. But it was just a dream. I woke up and looked out my window, and it wasn't there!

But it would be cool if you could figure out how to do it.

Did you think about using a 50's or 60's model axle with the leaf springs from that same time period. You said you wanted to install in a muscle car I take it you ment the 60's time period. Haven't you seen a 55 Chevy w/ a straight axle and a big block sitting in it? They are sweet looking, rakes the car to the rear.

Years ago, I had a friend that "rodded" old cars. The 1st thing he did was to put a pickup front under it to hold the added weight of a V8. A straight axle is cool but there are several trucks that have IFS.

Yes there is. But you have to use the belly pan for the upper coil towers , then align and weld the upper control brackets to the frame. Or just take the body of the car and set it on a truck frame. That way it might be easier to just align the body frame instead of making engine mounts, and installing the the front suspenion. There are more than likly several different ways to do this. If you go thru with this keep us posted and some pictures too, good luck.

One of the first generation olds toronado's front wheel drive would have to be ripped out of it, but it's a huge car and they can take a beating of a drunken teenager weilding a gun at a police convention.
