This lady wants to sell this truck for $750. Its in fair/good condition. It has some rust on both back fenders, the hood has some rust and a big dent, and the dash in the truck will need replacing. It has a 351 W in it that has not been started in about 5 years. I was looking for a F 100 but can't find one that's not in to bad of shape. I don't want to spend alot of money fixing one up. Do anybody know some info on the 65 Ford Ranger Pickups?
99 The 65 is generally reconised as the first year for the Ranger package. It is a trim package only, mainly interior parts, seats, console, etc. It has some but not a lot of extra value.
The 351W is a transplant, and not being able to see it, have no idea about the rest. Sounds like a project started but not finished.
Take $300.00 in twentys and tens with you, pull it out and start offering it to her. Those blocks are bad for freezing and cracking, and I wouldn't give much more than 300 for one that hadn't started in 5 years.
Tell her to get it running and you'll talk to her about more money. It does not matter how it was running when it was last driven, because until it is running again, that can't be proven. You will have to replace everything on the brakes too.
Sounds like a parts truck to me. You'll have a tough time finding a hood, for starters. The Ranger parts are worth $300 or more, if everything is there. I'd just build a Ranger out of a better truck with the parts.
"It has some rust on both back fenders"
Is this a stepside truck? I don't think I have ever heard of a Ranger flareside.
You don't mention where you are located or how bad the rust is. The value is affected by what is common rust for your area. What the southerners and west coast guys throw out would be the prime stuff up north.
Truck is in Central Texas. I got the truck to start after I jumped the battery and used starter fluid in the holley carb. I checked the heads and didn't see any cracks from the eyeball. Does have a transmission leak. It has a TH 350 trans with a Hurst shifter. Also has a 9 in Ford rear end with 3:73 posi. What do ya'll think.
are you sure its a th 350 trans that would be a gm trans ford would be a c6 or c4 unlessthe doner came out of a earliy torino or ltd could be a fmx trans as well i seen kits for gm conversion but dont know of to many do them but sounds like a real good project for the price id buy it in a heart beat
