87 ford ranger running ruff
I have a 87 ford ranger pickup, it is running extremely ruff. You can smell the exaust and it smells super rich and is even spitting fuel out of he exhaust. when I bought the truck the wires were cut on he oxygen sensor, so I put a new oxygen sensor in it hoping that it would help to lean out the fuel. The truck has duel tanks on it, but the back one is off and it is draining fuel out of the line when it is running. I don't know if the cadalltic converters are plugged too, the truck only has 65,000 miles in it. or maybe its a vacuum line leak?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Cory
If you pull the vacuum line from the regulator, and have fuel spill out, you need to replace the regulator.

Thanks for the help,

^+1 on putting the fuel pressure regulator high up on your suspect list. As tomw said, if the regulator diaphragm is bad, intake vacuum will suck fuel right into the intake manifold, corrupting fuel trim.
Dirty fuel injectors with a runny nose will also corrupt the air/fuel ratio.
Seeing as how its so rich that raw fuel is coming out the exhaust, I agree the cat converter could have melted down inside & be causing high back pressure & you can check that with your vacuum gauge, scrolling down & following scenario 14 here. How to Use and Interpret a Vacuum Gauge
Also, with the fuel trim so rich, crankcase lube fuel dilution belongs on your suspect list, so you'll likely want to change the oil & filter as soon as the over fueling is fixed. I'd not drive it, or rev the engine if the dipstick reeks of fuel.
This model has 2 fuel pumps, a low pressure supply & a high pressure feeding the fuel rail & injectors, so a fuel pressure & bleed down test is in order too, to help determine if any fuel injector has a runny nose, or over pressure condition.
More thoughts for consideration, let us know how your trouble shoot goes.
Edit, yes you will get a code 22 if the MAP sensor is whacked.
