stumbling 400

my 400 stumbles a bit when i first mash the gas, but it passes and then runs just fine till i change gears or hit the gas agin.

Sounds like fuel delivery.Changed your filter recently? If so check your float level and power valve along with timing. Might be time for a carb rebuild,new gaskets and check valves do wonders for these old trucks and pretty cheaply I might add. John

I do not know.
I am not to good with a carb, or fuel system.

Are you using a Holley carb? If so, check the power valve. Mine was too small and would stumble from idle, but when I go it going it was OK. Changed the power valve after getting the right one and it was like I had a new truck!!
