Hmmm, gas prices are down, and elections are coming up in a few months. Jee, maybe there is a connection because the price of oil hasnt come down all that much. Just my perspective/opinion of it. I'll enjoy the lower prices all the same, but look for them to go back up after the first week of November.
That is one of the first things that went through my head. Of course, we can all hope that isn't the case.
Peter Beutal from Cameron Hanover was in CNBC on Wednesday. It seems there was no real explanation other than a fundamental shift. He had some interesting comments. Take a listen
In most years traditionally fuel prices are cheapest around election time. Hate to say it but politics ifluences oil prices. It would not look good to have high fuel prices around election day if your running for office. I still think there is something rotten in Denmark when fuel prices go down that much in that short off time. I cant believe demand has fell off that much. I still see just as many cars on the road as I always have. Its funny how the public is twisted around by oil companies. But politics is the is the biggest player in the fuel price right now. Its happened many times before. Thats a pretty sad state off affairs if thats the case.
Cheap gas here is in the $2.50 range and diesel is still over $3. Everybody is happy as can be to pay the $2.50 a gallon. At this price people think they are geeting a steal. Not me, I think it should be at the $2 range. Now don't get me wrong I am happy that it is cheaper than it was, but face it, we are now conditioned to the higher prices. So it will be back up and we will not complain as much as we did. The one thing that I wish for every day that I awake is that the big oil company C.E.O. burn in hell, fueled with their own oil.
I'm just glad I have cut a lot of my driving for work down in the past month. I used to have to fill up twice a week at $75-$80. Now I can go about 2 weeks on a tank so that's helped big time. One thing is for certain: Any relief we see in gas prices is only temporary. They'll be going back up again in the not so distant future.
