We bought a Kenmore in 1975 when microwaves were the hot new thing. Used it for years and years, and my folks gave it to my sister and she got more years of use out of it. Finally gave up the ghost just a few years back, I don't think 25+ years of service is too bad! Especially for something that was relatively new technology at the time it was built.

just go buy one at Costco; that way if you don't like and/it dies you can take it back without a problem...just keep the receipt...by the way we've had both Sharp and GE and both worked great. My sister just got a Sharp that is actually like a drawer and goes into the cabinet and opens by sliding out like a drawer...makes it easy for her to stir stuff...she's short.

The last counter one I had was a Sharp, it was great. Last house I put in a GE over the range, and it was also great (it was 4 years old when I sold the place, and was like new). I just put a Kenmore (made by Whirlpool) over the range in our new house and really like it.
