engine runs rough
Just got '64 F100 223 c.i. three on the tree. Had mechanic tune and put on rebuilt carb. After it warms up engine runs real rough,backfires and stalls at stop signs.. Mechanic thought it was the oil bath air cleaner, but removing it does not help. Any ideas?

When I first start driving, it runs smooth. It is only after it warms up the it runs rough. Another thing I noticed, when it starts to run rough, the clutch shudders, chatters in first gear. I don't get it

Grab a hold of your coil if it is hot, take a look at your points! You may find that the arm is dicolored and the gap has closed up. The truck will run fine when cold but not when warm cause it needs more ign power when hot. If you find the pionts fried take a volt meter and measure the coil voltage (from coil + term to ground with truck running) you should see no more then 10 volts. If you see more make sure your mechanical voltage regulator is working. Mine was not and I had the same problem as you AutoZone has a soild state one for 11.99 Then change pionts and condencer.

PS: may truck ran good after the volt reg change but runs Great now withthe MSD 6a ignition.
