On the fuel pump, sure, find the relay under the hood and wire it to a power feed on the "ON" side of the ignition. Done. Whatever you do, DON'T bypass the interia switch. Leave it in there! The electronic pump will not shut down in a collision if the engine stops or a fuel line ruptures otherwise. Be careful too, the pressure in the line from the EFI pump hovers around 35-40 psi. Thats a LOT more than the typical carb setup will EVER need. Your connections to the FPR that you have need to be extremely secure.

I can't answer the balancer question for certain but I would think you need one for the older engine on the older engine.

Duraspark? oi vei... um, I honestly don't know. The Duraspark system does not compensate for timing changes as the engine wears in (i.e. chain stretch, spring lag, etc.) So as the engine gets older the ability to get it to run well on the Duraspark system gets more complicated to achieve. In that regard, if you want simpler, go to an aftermarket high energy ignition. Just an opinion.

You are gonna get a lot of contradictions about the term "simple" because the EFI is actually more reliable AND simpler to troubleshoot. But thats all I'm gonna say.

As long as the heads were manufactured after 1976, they should have the Thermactor air injection ports/manifolds cast into them.

Folks around here often extoll the virtues of MSD ignition systems. Not too familiar with the aftermarket systems as I have gotten very accustomed to the OEM setup on mine. Might try a search... I know the topic has been covered before.
