It's me again... I have a 1961 unibody automatic with a 292 engine v8 and need to either rebuild or replace the carb. I'm not sure if it is a one or two barrel and am having a hard time figuring out what model Holley carb I have and what kit or carb I need to replace it with...
These are the numbers I found on the current carb...
C2TE- 9510-R
LIST - 2489
303
1672-B
One of the US Patent numbers (of many) was No. 3010475.
I tried to find a rebuild kit on eBay and ended up getting a Holley performance trick kit for models 2300, 3160, 4150, 4160, 4165, and 4500 series but it did have a US Patent No. 3010475 too (same as my carb). Did I buy the wrong kit for my carb and if not do I still need to get a rebuild kit? If I did buy the wrong kit which model should I get and how can I tell if I have a one or two barrel carb? (I know... I'm pretty darn ignorant about mechanics as yet... :-) ). I also paid 60$ for the trick kit. Did I pay too much and if it's not right for my carb, how is the best way to sell it? Thanks so much and I hope to hear form someone soon...
Jen I have a 2BBL carb for your 292. I will be driving through OR on my way to Tacoma on Dec 21,22 if your anywhere on the I5 let me know and I can drop it in your hands. It works good and got me from Tacoma to San Diego no problem. I'm not going to use it so you can have it. Post me back and let me know. Rich
Jen here is some more info for you. I was looking at this carb I have and it has a Holley remanufactured sticker on it the holley part # is 64-8059 this is a 2BBL for a 292 medium duty truck engine hope it helps. If you still want this one I have post back and let me know. RICH
OK. The list # is the Carb part #. I happen to have a Holley Part # index. Here is the break down. Hmmm. Interesting you actually have one that is not listed. I think by the first set of #'s you gave that it is a Ford Holley. I would call Summit Racing (1800 230-3030)and see if they can help. I have had great luck in finding information from them. As for the price you paid for the trick kit, Not bad at all Summit sells it for $76.95 plus shipping. But seriously call them.
