2 Barrel carb questions
I'm in trying to figure out why my 1969 F-100 is having a surging problem at idle. I rebuilt the carb because it was leaking fuel at the back of the carb somewhere. I took the carb to try and get a rebuild but the cost was expensive, I decided to get a rebuild kit. The carb itself didn't have any tag's or numbers stamped anywhere that I could determine what it is. I read a previous thread here that said that a Holley 2100 was the carburetor that was used on the 302 in that year, I went to the parts store and they pulled up a picture of a rebuilt Holley 2100 so I figured it was that. So I got the rebuild kit for it. I rebuilt the carb using the kit and all the parts that came out of the carb were checked against the ones in the kit and I put everything back together.
The truck ran OK for the first day but then developed leaks at the rear and front. I'm not sure what the problem is with the leaking, is it ok to use any type of gasket material when putting it back together? I'm not sure where the leak in the front or back is coming from just yet but has this happened to anybody and what was the fix. Also I get surging at idle and when I try to adjust the 2 air/fuel screws underneath to get it to idle it seems OK until I snap the throttle and then when it comes back to idle is stalls. I need some help if anybody has the time.
Thanks Bill
