well first off, recently got a 03 f150 with the 5.4.... lookin to get a tuner but know very little about them..... what is a good one for my application..... i will prolly run 87octane most of the time unless i decide to run 93 for a week for a performance tune... but ive seen superchip tuners on a few sites for 280 with free shipping and then ive seen edges for 340-400 various places.... what are you guys running? am i better off stock?
I prefer the BamaChips custom tuner, it makes great gains on 87 octane, buts its easy to flash over to a high octane if you want to run one for a tank. You can get towing, race, performance, economy tunes, etc.
Check it out here, or ask me if you have any more questons!
An SCT dealer can sell you and X-cal2 with up to three programs: 87 fuel saver, 87 performance and 93 performance tunes. The X-cal also datalogs and displays real time engine data on a laptop. It can also scan, display and clear fault codes.
Right, i forgot to mention that BamaChips is an SCT Xcalibrator 2 tuner!
They are some of the most advanced devices on the market, and while they may not have all the doo-dads of the Edge, they are able to access many more areas of the PCM to make the best tuning!
