I am new to the forum and need a little help. I have a 97 f150 w/5.4. I need to replace 2 O2 sensors. Bank 1-sensor 1 and Bank 2- Sensor 1? Is this one in the front and one in the back or drivers and passengers? Does anyone know:
Which sesors these are?
Where exactly they are located on the truck (I have 4)?
My CE light is on and the codes tell me to replace them. I have been burning alot of gas lately and the idle is rough. I also noticed more than usual soot around my tailpipe. I am hoping that replacing these sensors will fix these other problems?
bank 1 is the passengers side (cylinders 1-4), bank 2 is the drivers side (cylinders 5-8). sensor 1 is at the end of the exhasut manifold pipe where it connects to the exhasut pipe. sensor #2 is the rear sensor and used for comparison to the front one.
My CE light is on and the codes tell me to replace them.
Actually, there are NO codes that tell you to replace ANY sensor.
Codes are a starting point in a diagnosis, not an instruction for repair. While a defective sensor may be the cause of many codes, each code can also be caused by many other parts of the circuits.
Start by posting your codes or by SEARCHing for prior discussions about what has caused them.
