Ok I have read all of the articles on brake conversions. Now the only question left is how do I mount a booster on my '64 F-100. I have looked at several donors and found that I have very tight tolerances. There is a 351W with the universal mount bracket installed. Do I, A. Move the brake pedal over to where the clutch was, B. Do a remote booster, C. Give up, or D. Just upgrade to a dual master cylinder?
I am mainly worried about my brake lights being on ten minutes after I get out fo the truck. I know the pressure switch is located on the master cylinder. Also I want more of a reliable braking system. I have found that Mustang rotors take the same bearing as my truck but the only question is are the spindles the same. O r better yet when was the first year that Ford put disc on the F-100 and will it fit on my truck? Yes tons of questions. LOL I just want to make sure my baby won't kill me or be killed.
Mark, check my FTE site, in the tech articles, there is an article by Skip there and it has his address if you need further help.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Thanks John,
I already do have that article downloaded and in my workshop. I had to stop by the local truck place tonight. I talked to the owner who let me walk around until I find the right booster/master cylinder. I think I did. It's in a '78 Couger at this time. The car is in very good shape. I'm even thinking of pulling the rotors and calipers off of it. But back to the point. I only have 4 inches between the firewall and the valvecover. Not to mention that the current master cylinder is 4 1/2 inches to the left of the valvecover. So space is very limited as far as a booster is concerned.
It sounds like your engine may be too high in the engine bay. Take a look at [link:www.ford-trucks.com/user_gallery/sizeimage.php?&photoid=19|my engine bay] and see how the 292 sits in relation to the master cylinder now. I haven't done the power brake thing yet but I thought I'd give you a reference for the stock location.

You know I was wondering the same thing the other day. Well like I said I have a universal engine mount bar. I think it was set on top of the frame rails rather then sitting lower between them. Well some what good news is I will end up pulling the engine soon. So I will be able to reposition the mounting brackets for the engine mounts. Thanks for the picture.
Not a problem, I was curious about your crossmember. I am in the process of getting my 351W ready and am planning to use the universal member from Sacremanto Vintage Ford. Any way I can see pictures of your set up?

airharley if you go to pg 4 and look at "volare clip is IN" I go through installing power brake booster assembly from an 82-83 Fairmont in my 61 uni. Take a look it should work for yours. The Fairmonts had two types of booster one is about 7" in dia and 3" long the other is about 5" in dia and 6" long I'm using the pancake style. I'll be putting a brake light switch on the pedal and plug the same wies into it that go to the old switch. I'm running a 302 that sits high in the engine bay also. Good luck, Rich.
Ok I will take a digital camera home today to show what my engine bay looks like. I'll even show you the reason why my engine sits up high. I can tell you though. LOL The front brake lines are routed through the frame under where the universal mount is. That's why they were set up between the rails.
Well Toys4Tots took way too much time last night. I didn't get a chance to take the camera home yet. I did find a set of engine mounts for sale from www.lmctruck.com for mounting 351W in the trucks without have this big massive tube running from one side to the other. You way want to go that route instead. I am planning on replacing the universal mount with it. Looks much cleaner.
