had a leak at the gasket area- replaced with new gasket and billet housing. (thinking housing was warped)Leak is back! The flange where the o-ring seats is clean, everything is new. Any input on what i can do/try now. New housing/gasket didnt come with any torque settings, but i have replaced many stats before without any issues. Im out of ideas!
I use a small amount of silicone grease on all the o-rings that I install at work. They need to have the ability to move around, following the expansion and contraction of normal engine operation.
Plumbers faucet lubricant is what I use. You can also get valve lubricant at a swimming pool, hot tub vendor if it's handy. It comes in a tube like toothpaste, costs somewhere under $20.00 and is the best stuff for the job. It's consistancy is like uncured RTV, but it stays that way like grease - non curing.
Use it sparingly, just enough to get the contact surfaces lubricated. If you blob it up, it will create tremendous hydraulic pressures when you bolt it back together and it will cut the O-ring.

Do you have a cracked water pump? Also, I had a similar problem when I re assembled mine, the seal had shifted when I was installing the billet housing. Went to IH bought another seal and new hardware, used a little sealant on it and no more leaks. good luck
I like to use Aviation Form-a-Gasket (Loctite #80010) in this application. Just a little on both surfaces and a light film on the o-ring itself.
The trick is to set the billet housing down on the o-ring, without any downward pressure, to get the mounting surface of the housing parallel to the surface of the water pump. Put a little blue locktite (low torque) on the bolts and run all three down with your fingers evenly until they just contact the housing. Then, slowly tighten them all evenly, using a half-turn on each, in turn, to take the housing down evenly.
I find using either RTV or a silicone grease on o-rings that don't sit way down in a groove (like a waveguide flange), tends to cause too much o-ring migration on tightening.
gonna tear it apart tommorrow. I forgot to mention i used a light coat of silicone wheel caliper grease on gasket(ford stuff) when i went together with it.
I thought about the pump being cracked when I put all new stuff on last week, I did a close inspection on the flange area. Not ruling it out though! Its definattely leaking in- between the mating surfaces-mostly the rear of the housing area. I also forgot to mention that when the truck is up to temps there is no sign of a leak, but as its cold sitting in the driveway you can see the antifreeze . It hasnt formed a puddle on the ground. This is exactly what the stock housing and gasket did before i went to all the new parts last week.
