I have done a disc brake conversion on my 68 F-100 using a 1973 F-100 spindles. Now my camber is way off. Is this common? What would be the best way to fix this?
I swapped out the complete front end complete w I beams from a 78 to a 72 for better braking (disc for drum). Replaced bushings as I put it in and never had to take it in for alignment. I got feed back from others on this web site before I started and took their advice. Made my life easier and gave me a safer ride. Thanks to everyone out there for their help!
According to my Chilton's manual, the king pin angle on these trucks changed in various years. When I changed over my '70, I replaced everything from ONE donor, just in case. If it's out a little, they can bend the I-beams. If it's out a bunch, you need to find the right I-beams. I'm not sure how much they can bend the beams safely.
Jay, I don't know anything about king-pins. My manuals and parts catalogs told me that the parts were not the same so I left that alone! I do know I don't want anyone bending my I-beams. This is just one of the reasons that when I made the switch from drum (72) to disc (78) I swapped out the entire front end without any problems. You might want to consider that if its not already to late! Best of luck, Lee.
