I was told that Methanol/Water injection would help with my detonation problems. Has anyone tried this set-up? Also, does anyone have any suggestions on how to cool my fuel line from the pump to the carb?

Not enough info to give a good reply I would say I don't think the Methanol/Water injection is worth the money. I you mignt check your timing and advance curve. I don't know what conpreson and what use/when you are geting detonation problems.
Good luck

Sorry for the lack of info. I am running a 460, with D0VE heads and around 11:1CR. The cam is a Comp cam 560 lift 242 duration. 770 Holley avenger, roller rockers, edelbrock performer rpm, heddman elite's. I have been working with the timing and have eliminated some of the knock, but not all of it. If I set my total at 36-38* and then reconnect my vacuum advance the knock is there but the engine screams (all the Chevy folks cant believe the power and cant even think of any sarcasim). If I set my total timing with the vacuum advance connected the ping isn't there but the power is like a stock 351M. I have tried the cooler plugs, no help. I am running a 160* thermostat, helps a little but the guys here say that is not good to do and I should be running a 190* thermostat. A couple of old timers suggested a cool can or even the water injection.

11:1CR is prety stout for pump gas. Is this a street car? What octane are you runing? You might have to look at a little blend of racing gas when you realey want to scream.I was thinking about your outher problem of "how to cool my fuel line from the pump to the carb?" Sumit has some heat sheld material that may work on your fule line. You might allso look at using header wrap material.

Thanks for the reply. I am running a 1978 F100 shortbed Street/Strip. I am using this as a daily driver. I am attempting to cool the cylinder temps. I was told that cooling the fuel line and the water injection will help with this. The only racing fuel available to me is 40 miles away. The Methanol/Water injection is around $300. It is supposed to increase power as well as cool the cylinder temps.

I don't have enough expertise on this subject to tell you YES/NO. They do have a slick promo but haven't heard of aneyone runing one. Maybe some one with more knowlege will jump in with a opinon.
