You will have to get a 4 in exhaust elbow (or something similar) to make fit properly on an early 99. Kwik, easy and best of all cheap. I will be looking for a cold air intake and I'm limited to either the full blown afe or the ford ais version.
got the 6637 from fleefilter, used PVC pipe for now. also makes it easier to move the intake boot for getting into the drivers side of the engine compartment.

But I really want to try the 6637 filter. For my early '99 it looks like a straight piece of 4" PVD and an extra band clamp ought to do the trick. Hey, for the price of the 6637 it's worth a try.
For some reason I can't bring myself to buy a K&N. I think it has to do with all of their exagerated marketing back in the early 90's --they were one of the first to get into all of the performance hype stuff. Of course nowdays everyone is in the biz of selling shiny intakes for just about every car on the planet.
Having said that, there are still a few engine, most of them turbo/super charged that still benefit from a low restriction intake.
