Try banging it
This rear wiper problem gets mentioned a lot. The original motors wear out/develop a dead spot all he time. Many posters say if they give the wiper a good hard wiggle/rap it will often start working again. Don't twist it too hard though becasue they can break off. The long term fix is usually replacing the wiper motor.
If you search this forum for the word wiper, you will find lots of threads with that same thought and a few other ideas and problems related to the rear wiper. It's a popular problem.

My version of banging it is to turn it on and go and grab the wiper. Gently force it back and forth towards the direction it's supposed to wipe. Usually it begins wiping on its own with little effort. Once in awhile it takes a few seconds to persuade it. I've been nursing this one for over a year now. Sometimes the fix lasts a few months and sometimes not. If you can hear it clicking when turned on then the persuasion method usually works.
If you search under rear wiper you'll see many attempts at permanent fixes. Sometimes they don't all work for very long. Since you're new here you should try the "Search" feature for many items. There are many common issues that have been discussed numerous times, some with relatively easy fixes. Do a search under "door ajar" and get ready for that one.

I went through 3 Autozone ones (warrantied) and gave up, tried an Advance Auto Parts one since it was a lifetime warranty and figured it might be better built, and it lasted about a month.
Guess I'll break down and buy a genuine new Ford OEM motor.
The good news is that on our models (2000 type) it's only about a 10 minute job to replace it.
