67-72 vs 73-79

Your question:
How far off would cab mounts and core support mounts be if you were to take a 67-72 body on to a 73-79 frame.
The answer:
It is a direct bolt up.
Further comment:
The difference is behind the rear cab mount. There is 4 inches added to the chassis there.
Meaning that behind the cab there is 4" added to the chassis length, that has nothing to do with the cab and front clip. The front of the chassis are the same from 65 to 79. A 65 cab and front clip is a direct bolt up on a 79 chassis and vice versa.

ok ok i see i was confused by your statement. So (from the cab- back) the frame is longer...Is this on the 67-72 trucks or the 73-79 trucks? Ok here's what Im doing you tell where the discrepency is..... I have a 71 F100 long bed reg cab 2wd I am putting that body on my 79 F350 4x4 reg long bed frame/chassis. Does that make sense?

qman, Ford added 4" to the cab starting in 73. Look in one at the floor pan, it is easy to see, welded to the end of the pan. It was added so that the addition was added to the cab space but did not change the mount points. 65-79 2wd all the same.
FordboyPete says that you can fudge the 4 inches out in an install. I have not done one yet, but I would like to. I have contended that you might have to bob off the ends of the rails. You will also have to adjust the mount points.
Hope this helps a little.

There is only +2" difference in the wheelbases, irregardless of the +4" in the cab floor. All you gotta fudge with a 4X2 upgrade is + 2 inches in wheel base difference.
There is also a difference in CA frame width (the rear frame, after the cab) so when John says you have to remount the bed, that's when you "fudge" extra length away.
There is no 4" gap between the cab & bed if you do it this way.

It depends if both have the same front suspension or not. If one has leaf & the other has front coils & radius bars, answer I would give is NO they won't just drop on, fit & bolt up. There are differences between both 4X4 and 4x4 and with spring types also.
The frame configurations are different between leaf & coil spring front suspension.
Having said that, you can make it work with engineering, alterations, effort resources & time, all something I avoid doing myself. I have done a few 2wd upgrades however &
they are as represented above by both of us.
We were 5 posts onto this thread B4 the topic of 4X4 v 4X2 came up. It's why I so specifically stated 4X2 when I jumped in here. In defference to our fearless moderator, that fact [ 4X2s as a drop on, bolt up] is what he was talking about too.
