Anyone know if there are any years of trucks that I could get leaf springs off of another year of truck that would at a little bit of clearance for some bigger tires or where to get my springs rearched at? And how much would it cost? I already asked about new hangers for them but I was told that is not the way to go. So any help would be nice because I know there are not any lift kits for this year of truck. Thank ya much
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Jan-02 AT 04:38 PM (EST)]A town About 1.5 hours from where I live (Roanoke Va) has a springworks place that can make anything you want. Maybe there is a place near you that can do the same thing. Otherwise, I do know that 80's 4x4 pickups had 3 inch wide springs, and 2wd had 2.5 inch springs. If you find out what width you have, maybe you can buy an add-a-leaf kit and put it on yours. You can mix and match and build your own spring, so long as you keep the main leaf, and have a source or machine shop that can make the u-bolts you need if it ends up thicker than it used to be.
Look in the yellow pages under Truck repair and Springs. You might have to go to the city but you should be able to find one close by.
In the past i've had sping rearcked and add a leaf or two. Arching the springs keeps the same ride quality adding leafs make it much stiffer. So if your going to 4X4 alot you might just get them rearched that way they still keep contact with ground at extream angles. Also ask about shackle kits.

PS: Around Boston there DUFF Spring in Medford and Palmer Springs in Waltham. At Lakeveiw in Worcester
"ESPO springs and Things"....I got brand new springs for my 79 4x4 for $210.00. That was $100 cheaper than getting them rearched. They have a web site. Just type that into a search engine. They're in PA. Good luck, Phil
