I am having to do some severe rust mitigation on my 1980 f-150. I have to replace many of the body panels and both doors. My question is can I use the door shells from the 87-91 trucks on my 80? There are not many 1980-86 trucks left in the bone yards around here and the 87-91's are much more common and by just looking at the doors they look identical. I don't my doing minor mods I just dont want to spend $200-$300 per door.
The door it self should bolt up no problem, even doors from trucks up to 1996 should work. I should be swapping some 95 F-150 doors onto my 85 F-250 pretty soon. I believe you may have to make some minor changes to keep you original interior door panel though.
ive got 92-96 panels on my 90 f150s factory doors. Has very little to do with this thread, but I figured Id throw it out there. They look decent, I didnt even notice untill I was doing some body work, put a 90 bronco door on, and went to put the panel on and realized it was the next gen panel....but yes 80-96 doors will all interchange physically.
