Should I?

I really need your guys advice,I have an 04 f-250 cc sb xlt 6.0L with a build date of 5/04 with 14,500, I have had no problems with it and i have had all the recalls done on it.Now with that said i am thinking about trading it in on an 06 f-250 lariat for more options and upgrades plus the 0% financing. My concern is my 04 having problems down the road but it's hard to tell with so little miles and i've heard that the 06's are pretty much flawless vs some not all but some of the 04's, So do you guys think i should keep my 04 and hope for the best or trade it in on an 06 so i don't worry so much about something happening to the truck, I can't decide what i should do, I would really appreciate your guys advice.BTW my truck has 5'' exhaust and intake but i will not be chipping it.
Thank you

Hard choice. Been reading in the forum about 03's-05's. Most of those years have been having problems. Not many hits about the 06's. I'm quite sure they worked a lot of the bugs out by now since there changing them for 07/08 years. Also like stvneil said, you will have to way the drivetrain warranty from 100,000 to 50,000. So what would that tell you. No confidence in there product

I think the new warranty is 5 yrs/60k miles instead of 3/36 k miles on the whole truck,(vehicle),if you buy one with the PSD you still get the 100k engine warranty !

yeah the way i understood the new warranty was that they improved it by upping the amount of time the whole truck was covered, but still keeping the 100k on the diesel.

Warranty

The way I read my warranty on my 06 350 is
3yr/36k bumper to bumper
5 yr 100k on the engine, powertrain is not mentioned.

I will be extending the warranty at around 30k

Okay, on the '06 you still have 100,000 on the engine. Now they have added a 5 yr/50000 mile powertrain - so now your tranny is up from 3yr/36000. You get 0% on the '06 for up to 72 months. The front suspension was new in '05, frame was made a bit beefier so you can haul more. Think the going to an '06 is an easy choice; unless you can not find one you like in the color and options you want.

When I bought my 06 in 8/05 the warranty stated a 3yr/36K mile bumper to bumper which ever comes first and for the diesel motor a 5yr/100K mile powertrain warranty with a $100 deductible. So far at 7k miles no trouble with mine. I hear the 06's are finally done right. I guess all good things take time and of course some $$$. Good Luck!

wow, you only have 14,500 on that truck! I barley drive mine and I've got 60,000 ('04, build date 6-04) The only problem I've had with mine was the EGR went on it. It was a pretty easy fix. I love my truck and won't trade it for anything. It sits around allot, but then I'll put 10,000 on it in a week and never bat an eye. If your having about the same luck with yours, why trade up? Of course my dad trades his trucks in at 60,000 every time and gets good trade in $$$ for them. So if your trading up cause your scared, I say no. If you just want to keep trading up to keep hold of a newer model, then yup.

I went yesterday to see about trading my 04 in and the zero financing is a joke they give no rebates and they offered 20K trade for my truck and came off the 50K price tag 1500.00. I told the dealer if that was the bestthey could do I bought my last new truck. It had been on there lot since March. My 04 has not given me any trouble and it is getting close to being paid off. I didnt think the 06 had as much power as mine.

Talking Why Trade up?

I traded my 04 F250 for the 06 F350 cuz I wanted to carry a heavy slide-in camper. The 06 has more power than the 04 (now that the egr plug fell off), and I really love the work they have done to the suspension. I ended up with 1.9 financing and 3k back with a reasonable trade so I am tickled. Just took the truck to Montana and back for a new stable-lift for the camper, it got about 14.5 mpg combined with the camper aboard, gets about 19 with the tonneau on but I drive it a lot harder with the camper off, it probably would be over 20 if I would quit racing other trucks. I hope to have this one 'till the wheels fall off.
