Hi. I just recently purchased a '64 Ford flatbed pickup, and was hoping you could help me ID the model. It has a stock V6, six speed manual transmission, flatbed, and dual rear wheels. It's a 3/4 ton. the guy was using it on his farm until he got a new truck, then he sold it to me for 550. That wasnt a bad price, was it? It needs a drivers side window and paint.
Ohhh boy. This truck has a V6 engine in it, and the guy said it was the original engine. However, I'm beginning to doubt that. Other than the engine, what does the truck sound like? An F150? F250?
No v6, no 6 speeds in 64 Fords. F100 has 5 lug wheels, F250 has 8 lug wheels. Sounds like what you got is a "Johnny Cash Special", a little pit of everything!
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 10-Feb-02 AT 04:59 PM (EST)]Do you mean it has a 4 speed plus a 2 speed rear axle? This was available on the heavier series. Not the V6. GMC had a truck V6 approx from 1960 thru 1966. Any chance the motor and trans were put in from this type truck?
