Yes, the prices are much higher here, as a matter of fact when I went to register the Ex that I bought for $12,500 they would not believe me and wanted to charge me tax on "fair market value" of $19,900. That was in one Dept of Licensing, I went to another office with a form saying that the rig was a piece of crap and that the fair market value was what I paid. That saved me over $800 in taxes. In this state, they are greedy for the sales tax and if you get a good deal, they're not happy with it and will charge you a higher tax. Communism. Besides, the vehicle already had tax charged on it, when it was bought new, so they are double dipping in the tax trough, in my opinion.

Thanks all for the advice, I wound up buying the local rig, only logical choice after the rest shook out. The local deal I got was the cheapest of the "local deals" by about $3,000, next cheapest local one was $15,500 for pretty much the same rig as I bought. The dealer wanted $14k for a cloth XLT and would not budge on price.

The CA had much more damage than claimed and the Chicago one bumped up the price after talking to a local dealer.

I like the rig, I'm posting a what now for other advice.

Thanks

Tony
