The gas tank?

Perhaps you mean intake manifold?

i would put a can in the gas tank with say a half a tank of gas. then i would buy the seefoam spray and spray it into the intake with the vehicle running. this helps release and break down carbon build up in the air system

I don't think I'd spray anything into the intake, I'd be worried about the MAF.

If you want to ingest the Seafoam through the intake side of the engine, use a vacuum line, like the brake booster line, stopped down with a smaller hose, with a "sports inflation needle" attached to that & inserted into the Seafoam.

Ths way you'll not likely have the engine ingest the Seafoam too quickly & hydrolock the engine & bend something up!!!!! lol

After this kind of treatment, you'll likely want to change the crankcase oil & filter & clean the spark plugs, as they'll likely be fouled up pretty good.

Now if your just looking to decarbon the engines intake valves & combustion chamber, using the Seafoam & not mess with the intake manafold runners & throttle body side of things, add the Seafoam to the gas tank, as has been suggested & run most of that out, but go for two or three spirited 20 mile or so, highway speed drives, on that tank.

That should clean the intake valves & combustion chambers, without dirtying up the oil & plugs so much.

If your of a mind to add the Seafoam through the air intake runner, so the throttle body gets some cleaning, be careful not to dirty up the MAF sensor, while ingesting the Seafoam.

If the throttle body is really dirty I think I'd consider removing it for a separate cleaning with "throttle body" spray cleaner.

Now you might find a tag from Ford that says, don't clean the throttle body, as it's upposed to have a coating inside that prevents it from sticking. Others have cleaned it anyway, with success, but were careful not to damage the coating.

Anything you choose to clean it or the intake runners with, should be chosen & used carefully, so you don't damage the TB coating, the composit material of the intake runners, or the O2 sensors.

There is a Ford "Decarboning" proceedure listed in the "Technical Info" thread, atop this forums main page.

It calls for using Motorcraft PM-3 to decarbon the engne, by intake side ingestion, with the same hydrolock cautions & oil & filter change & spark plug cleanig afterwards.

Another "clean type" intake valve/ engine decarbon option, for consideration, might be a tank of Texaco or Chevron gas, with a bottle of Techron Concentate added, run most of that tank out, while doing the above spirited highway drive cycle.

Techron is a very good intake valve & combustion chamber cleaner upper!!!! imo

Just some additional thoughts to ponder.
