Hey, I need some specs. I need some specs on the stock 2006 cummins diesel, and the 2006 ford 6.0. I would like HP and Torque specs. Also some shootouts would be great! And another thing.... How much torque and hp is a stock 7.3?? Thanks

The CDI is 325 HP, 610 torque.
The 6.0 is 325 Hp, 570 torque.
The D'Max LLY is 310 HP, 605 torque.
The D'Max LBZ is 360 HP, 650 torque.
The 7.3 depends on year and auto or stick. My late production '03 7.3 auto is 250 HO, 525 torque. I think that the stick is 275 HP, but the torque goes done just a little bit.
Edmunds just did a test on HD diesels. Go to www.edmunds.com
Don't refer people to the edmunds review of HD diesels. That's the lamest review/comparision I've ever seen. The trucks are quite different and they loaded down each one with different weights.
Engine ratings are one thing, actual HP/TQ that makes it to the ground is more important. Dodge is the worst, Ford/GM are very close even with the LBZ being rated much higher. All automatic trannies...I'm not sure about manuals.
The heaviest truck is the Ford. Handles loads the best. The lightest is the GM, Dodge inbetween. IMHO, Ford is the hardest working/most durable pickup. Dodge inbetween, and GM the cheapest built pretty-boy cadilac truck.
Sorry pstrang, but where were you when ford had millions of dollars in buy back and warranty work....to say that the ford is the hardest working and most durable? The 6.0 is going down in history as one of the worst motors ever built. This is not just my opinion, but the opinion of many on here. The LBZ makes more hp and puts more to the ground than the powerstroke would dream of making at the crank. (Not really, but almost.) BTW if you have ever seen the LBZ on the dino compared to the LB7. The LBZ is underrated from the factory.
Lets see ......GM has a 6 speed Ford has a 5 speed. Which would you rather pay 40k to own.
Even with 4.30 gears, the PSD didn't fly by the other 2 trucks like it should have.

You can **** and moan about the test all that you want, but the only real controversial aspect of the test was the towing test. I express no opinion as to whether should or should not have loaded each truck different. I will leave that to the reader.
But the rest of the test is not tainted with any bias. Edmunds' opinions on ride comfort, stereo performance, interior material quality, dash functionality, etc., have nothing to do with the towing part of the test and just might provide someone somewhere some insight.
Geez man, even if they tied the Ford to a tree during the acceleration test, how would that make the Ford stereo sound bad, or the Ford seats more uncomforatable?
Sorry that the Ford didn't win, but it makes no sense to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
There's only one truck that has been the best built, hardest working, and most durable pickup truck the last ~30 years. It's not a cheap@$$ GM, nor the dodge. The Superduty is the best heavy duty pickup on the market today. You have your choice for engines, but the truck is the best.
For all you nay-sayers, just crawl underneath each truck and look at the construction. Don't blame me when you pull a stomach muscle laughing at the underside of the GM. Gees, we want trucks, not cadilacs.

We understand that is your opinion. We got it. OK?
if you say so. i think like most american thing, the stroker needs to go on a diet. but to each his own. the stroker sets higher.......center of gravity??? most trailers I pull have their own brakes, and most of them are fifth wheels, so I can control how much weight is transfered to the truck by the placement of the fifth wheel. so therefore I see the added weight as nothing but more to get stuck in the mud or snow. The same with the superduty having high frame rails. 99% of the time a truck is stuck long before it is setting on the frame. It is just that much harder to get out.

You do realize that there are people out there who do take these trucks off-road, dont you? Higher frame rails = less chance of getting high-centered on a rock/log/stump/etc...
Unlike the GM's that will get high-centered on the Wally-World speed bumps...
ya, we own a lot of ground.....but if i made it a regular habit of rock crawling and "baja" ing..... I would put in a lift and some more serious skid plates. We have a suzuki samuri for stuff like that.

Thats what Im getting at...
Some people dont have another vehicle for off-road. Other people use trucks off-road for their jobs (farmers, park rangers, forest service, firefighters, rock quarries, miners, oil industry, DOT workers, etc...etc....)
If you take a look around (at least around my neck of the woods), Ford SD's are used by VDOT, Firefighter/EMS brush trucks, SWAT (Excursions), park rangers, Game wardens, 95% of area farmers, etc....
And most people dont have another $3k to drop into a lift after buying a $40K+ truck
a fully loaded Ford F-350 DRW with the Max Tow Pack well tow 19,200 pounds, (6.0L) the V10 will to 15,000 and the 5.4L from the F-150 in a Super Duty style truck well tow 12,300 Fords are stronger, weigh more, and more stable at higher speeds when towing its a fact a Chev well not even think about towing that much a Dodge is a bit closer fords just got it going Built Ford Tough = Stronger Frame that can tow more
