If you are recommending someone tow 12,300 lbs. with the 5.4L on a regular basis, you have lost what is left of your mind.

This isn't a Ford bashing thing. The Chevy 6.0 and the legendary DCX Hemi wouldn't do much better with that weight.

Forget about those stupid factory tow ratings. Go tow with different trucks and engines, and you will get a good idea of what you can and can't do.

I've towed with a GM V-6, a Dodge V-6, 318 V-8 and V-10 and Ford V-8s. That's why I currently own 2 diesels. A 7.3 and a CDI.

BTW - My '06 4.6L is rated at 6500 lbs. and it can't pull my cat out of the litter box.

My '97 is the same way. It wont even move out of it's own way when empty

well mabe your right but people do do it as for your 4.6L my 4.2 has pulled about 5,200 pounds and I was happy with it at the time on a regular basis your right shouding do it but if you need it well

oh sorry also with about 1400 pounds of scrap metel my 4.2 doesint have a struggle
