Taking off the accelerator cable

I want to clean out my throttle body, gently no harsh chemicals, as well as inspect the EGR ports. But to do this I have to take off the throttle plate, but to do this I have to take off the cable for the accelerator.

If I remove the bolts holding the throttle plate on, will I get smacked in the forehead by the accelerator cable or is the cable not under tension?

This is for a 3.0 FFV.

You have to take off the cable? You sure?

You won't get smacked though, there's no tension in the cable at idle other than the slight tension from it being bent into shape, nothing that's gonna smack you in the face.

That's good to know. I didn't want to fiddle with the accelerator cable without at least asking first. I figure I can just take the 4 bolts off the throttle assembly and not mess with the accelerator cable assembly. It should come off in one piece.
