I have read that in 2004 the F-150's had a significant wieght gain along with all the other changes that came along that year.
I recently test drove two new SuperCab trucks with one having the 4.6 and the other having the 5.4 and both had 3.55:1 gearing in the rear-end. I was amazed at the lack of acceleration especially in the one with the 4.6 engine. All I have to compare it to is the excelleration on my father's truck which is a 1997 SuperCab with a 4.6 and also has a 3:55 rear-end. His '97 truck feels like it has much better excelleration. So I'm assuming all of this is due to the extra wieght the newer ones are lugging around.
So does anyone know approximately what the curb weight is on a 2006 SuperCab w/6.5' bed?
And what about a Regular Cab's w/6.5' bed's weight, any ideas on it since I haven't ruled that truck out completely when I buy?

06, Scab, 5.4, 4X4, short bed(5.5), 3.73, Heavy because it is a Lariat.
13.8 mpg city, I drive hard. 17.9 highway pulling a 2300 lb camper.
I can burn rubber all day long in this truck. I barely give the pedal anything and I zoom most on the ramps. Pedal to the metal, hang on brother you might hit the guy in front of you.
No, Sir! my F-150 is fine. Did I say FINE!
Maybe you don't talk well of your truck, so it don't perform well for you! Happy Ford Trucking!
Oh, on another note. Yes the new F-150 is heavy. The only thing I wonder about is the brakes. Man those look like puny brakes for such a fast, and heavy truck! Time will tell!
I have a 04 screw 4x4 larait and it weights in at 6,000 lbs or pretty dang close to it. But for accelration it seems good to me I can smoke the tires but dont do it that often since I dont want to buy new ones anytime soon.

Did you order this truck? I can't find a '07 Scab Lariat 4x4 SB ANYWHERE!
Weight isn't your problem. I own an 04 4x4 with a 4.6. Yes..when you drive it the truck feels like you are towing a 5000 pound trailer behind it but it is due to Ford tuning it down for whatever reason. I put an Edge tuner on it 2 weeks ago and its like going from a Ford Pinto to a Mustand GT. I would sell this truck if I had to give up my Edge tuner. You will be amazed.
these babies are heavy. I drove my 94 F-150 today after driving the 06 for 2 weeks. I had gotten used to giving the 06 a liberal amount of throttle and zooming off. I did the same in my 94 and roasted the tires before I realized what I was doing.
The 5.4 liter is a powerful motor and when coupled with the 3.73 gears, I've got lots of giddy-up and go. It does however take a little bit to get her moving.

oh yeah, I've noticed a common thing here for the 04 owners. The majority say the truck is underpowered and sucks gas like a hog. I think Ford must have done some reprogramming since then, because my truck (06 SuperCrew FX4 5.5ft bed with 5.4L) has plenty of power.
hopefully someone out there has the same truck as me and has weight tickets. I'm interested in what she weighs myself.
Hey Tylus, I have an 04 Lariat Screw 4x4. It isn't a gas sucking hog and it has plenty of power. I think the biggest thing is that the owners of the 04's didn't go and get the re-flash from Ford. It made a night and day difference. That plus the Edge EVO and hold on to your hat! It will roast the tire right off the rims if you're not careful. MPG is respectable at 18MPG highway and 15MPG city. IT will get less if the throttle is heavily manipulated by your right foot!
