My 77 f150 302/c4 currently has a car drivetrain in it. The shift lever on the side of the c4 is the original car type (t-bird I think) and didn't line up with the truck shift linkage. The PO who did the swap simply welded half of the old truck lever to the car lever.
Well, this weekend the *wonderful* welding job gave way and I was stuck in 2nd for the better part of a day. Luckily the NSS only wants the column to say N or P, not the actual transmission.
I managed to get a friend to weld it back on, but this is not a great solution (and the column is off by one letter now).
So my questions:
Is the shift lever on the tranny pressed on, or do I have to tear into the transmission to swap out the correct lever? I tried pulling it off and got a smashed finger for my troubles....
What is the best way to go about this? I haven't checked the wreckers yet, but LMC, BOTP, etc don't seem to carry the truck c4 lever.
