ok...well...i solved my wondering and hopefully others. dual exhaust went on today. true dual, no cats at all, one "Thrush" glasspack per side, 2-1/4 piping in...2-1/2 out, with chrome slash tips. my muffler man, simply stated that all straight would be extremely loud, and sound like farting in a tin can. plus lose a lot of torque due to low backpressure. now i have to stick up for the guy, he knows his stuff and wasn't just trying to "sell" the mufflers. the outcome?? i'm really impressed. a very low, almost vacant rumble at idle, which increases with rpm's of course. not a sharp sound, due to the fact that the 6 don't rev that high. engine breathes very freely now, seems to be a noticeable bit of peppyness. i rate it a 9 out of 10. the lacking point due to the fact that i would rather have the 351. but for the l6...very nice. advised?? definately

I have a 66 F-250 w/300 .030 over, 4bbl Offy w/Edelbrock 600, it has true duals, actually the split headers(split manifold as my dad would say) 1,3 &2 on one side, 5,6 & 4 on the other, glass packs 2 1'2" pipes, I LOVE the sound, especially at idle, they exit either side of the truck, and they have a neat sound. However, the glasspacks are about 8yrs old, and they are getting loud, so they are due to be replaced as money permits. And they will get pushed to the back of the bed instead of in front of the rear tires.

Thanks for the post. I threw on a left over flowmaster 50 and 3" pipe from my diesel that I had, but it is not loud enough.
How did you get away with not using cats? My rig has 2 O2 sensors, one before that cat and one behind, so I have to have a cat. Does yours have the MAF? That is the only thing I can think of.
Thanks

mine has the 2 o2 sensors as well...murray(super exhaust man) had a small pipe which has the o2 female threads welded in. put that on...done deal. he said that the cel may come on in a couple of weeks...but not for sure. he told me to bring it back if it does and he'll read it and re-code, reset it or something. no probs yet tho...truck runs awesome...

I bet your truck will throw a code stating that the cat is not working (cause there is none). The 2 O2's read the before the cat and after and if they are the same, then the computer thinks that the cat is not working properly so it will throw the code. The prob here is that the computer will be in safe mode so you won't get the best mpg or power. I guess you can keep reseting the code, but in mine it would happen all the time when the guy before me removed the cat. This is why I have to have the cat.
Here is a link as to what the MAF does:
http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h34...0air%20flow%22
It is locaded in your truck just after the air filter.
Let me know how you make out.
