Hi all, just wanted to share my experiance with my V-10. This is in a 2002 Jayco 32ft motorhome towing a 17ft boat@ 3000 pounds. First trip I wasn't impressed. I thought my brothers '99 V-10 Winnebago had more punch. Allthough his is chipped I figured the horsepower difference would even them out. Some grades had me down to about 46mph barley holding on. I started doing some research on this site and looked at the Banks kits. All I've done is put the Tricumulator/Sonnax valve kit in the trans. The only thing to the motor was ditching the factory intake system. She now breaths through a 4 inch tube coming out at the bottom to get fresh cool air. I cut the filter housing inlet to a bigger size to fit the 4 inch tube. Only other thing was put a straight 3inch pipe in where the plastic one was from the output side of the filter housing to the throttle body. MAN what a different machine!! Now going up steeper grades to Shasta Lake in California it would only drop to 50mph and grab another gear and pull it back up to 60mph or more. Mileage was running almost 10mpg. A little shy of that but a very high 9mpg. This is cruising the flats at about 63 mph. Now I am VERY impressed and recommend this to anybody looking for some extra punch and better mileage. Ford did a great job with this motor once you let it breath!
Sounds like you got it tuned just right. You got any pics of the intake system mod. Ive been shying away from doing that. Worried about water getting in. Im looking at a BTS valve body to put in my tranny. Heard it is a little better than just the tri/sonnax valve kit. I get 14 1/2 all around unloaded and 9-10 pulling 5'er car hauler and boat depending. But if you got any pics i would love to see how you did it. I might have to go that route. I love my truck. Good day.
Sorry Kamots, I don't have any pics of it. It's not as clean as I want it to be right now. It is a very tight fit with 4" ducting. I just ran it down the right(passenger) side of the radiator and shroud. I'm not worried about the water as you would have to pull it verticle about 3 to 4 feet and then through the filter. I've run other systems like this on other vehicles without incident. They were alot less of a distance to the filter as well. Although being in California water isn't as much of a concern as it would be elsewhere. I should also mention that my motorhome does not have the funky "Y" pipe either. The exhaust is stock though. I would think from my experiance that the Banks kit should make a pretty noticable difference. I'm basicly trying to duplicate the Banks kit but on a cheaper budget. My future plans are the Predator programmer and then the exhaust. Also anything from BTS would be great. I really didn't feel much with the tri/Sonnax valve in the motorhome. Too much weight I guess. It is a little better just not much.
no pic? hmmmmm I think a lot of talk and no poof.I hope when folks talk about a good thing its nice to see there achivement, regardless how it look. maybe someone can inprove it and pass it back to all. hmmmmmmn no pics/
Don't get smart!! Since I don't have pics you don't believe it! Maybe just maybe I'm too busy for one to figure out how to get pics on a discusstion board. Or maybe it doesn't look great as I haven't had the time to clean it up. It does however work very well and I was amazed at the difference. It is honestly some of both. I posted it to maybe help others. Do what I did and try it. I didn't look at anybody elses pics. If I had pics are you really stupid enough to all of a sudden believe it without trying it yourself? Seeing pictures doesn't mean I've acheived anything. Driving it does! Grow up!!!
C'mon guys. You're talking to each other because you share a common interest. Think of the other guy as just sitting across the table from you and just go with the flow....
sorry ,didn't mean to be smart just really interested in your setup.any info you can show us can help us all, and maybe someone can figure a better way to improve your setup. two heads better than one. just keeping you honest and keeping us interested in your setup.
BareBones, Thank's. You're right! Sorry Cisco8325. As far as bettering my set-up, my brother brought up pvc pipe as a possible answer. I need to come up with a better way to attach it to the filter housing as it is only taped for now. The 4" tube right now is dryer hose exhaust, that metal kind. It is a tight fit. I have a digital camera, so I could take some pics of it tomarrow possibly. I do not know how to get the pictures on here however, and would need your guy's assistance. Sorry again Cisco as I just went back and reread everything. I went somewhat overboard.

You can send them to me. When you get the pics, PM me, and we'll figure out where to put them.
You can always create a gallery (tech gallery!) and put them in there too...
I will send them to you Krewat when I get them taken. I didn't have time tonight before it got dark. I keep a very busy schedule, too busy at times I'm afraid. I will try to get this done very soon though.
