I have a 64 F250 with 16" wheels. The man i bought it from said it had 15" split rims that he replaced. Did ford put 16" wheels on any of their trucks that year. I haven't decided whether to keep 16's on it or go back to the original 15's. I enjoy driving this old beast better then my 90' f-150.
But I'm spoiled on the luxury of that XLT Lariat.

The origional wheels were 16 or 16.5 inch split rims. They never made a 15 inch split rim as far as I know. I will check in the 66 owners manual I have. The split rims were used so people could fix flats in the field. They also killed quite a few people. The ring could pop off and take the individuals head with it. There is a lot of stored energy in compressed air. Stay with the 16's if authenticity is not critical.
