tire question

i want to lift my 73 f250 4x4, what is a popular kit or height to lift it?

also, the truck has 16's, can i fit a 15" wheel with stock drum brakes?

what is the cheapest route? 15's 16's or 17's? and 33's or 35s?

i have a set of 17" cragar soft 8's but 35" tires are pretty expensive. id prefer to keep the budget around $800

what are some of the popular setups?

35x12.5x15 on 15x8s or 15x10s with a 4-inch lift.

Shop around for a tire n wheel package.

I'm not sure, but I didn't think an F250 could fit 15" wheels.
But that could just be the "newer" ones (like my 77) with disk brakes up front

If you can fit 15's. Is guess they would be cheapest,
But buying tires for 16's or 17's would probably be cheaper than wheels and tires in 15"

Try WWW.TIRES.COM

I'd try to keep the 17's.
I think 35" tires look great on 17's

If your running tight on cash try out craigslist for rim and tire combos. I got 35s with 50% tread for $400. And I mainly got them for the rims. I just gave the tires away as spares to whoever wanted them and grabbed my 37s with 80% tread for $75 a piece. I guess all I'm saying is, if you look hard enough deals will be there.

ive been watching craigslist constantly for the past week. not a single set of 35's in my area. sf bay area

15's are definitely the cheapest. since 16 isnt very common. and tire rack usually seems to have the lowest prices and its about 1100 for 17" 35's. and around 800 for 15's.

the truck needs a lot of upgrades. im trying to school myself on a power steering conversion, and after that, maybe power assist brakes like my old 71 xlt had. also need to find the best price on a 4" lift. any suggestions?

a skyjacker lift is like $1200 which is ridiculous, theres gotta be a way to keep it around $300 ?

i dont see how some leaf spring can cost so much

* leaf in the front. Do a search in the dent forum plenty of information there. As for power brakes look at a 78 or 79 f350 set up. Grab the dual diaphram power booster and the master cylinder. It is supposed to be a far more superior braking system.

Sorry for the double post, iPhone glitched up

is there leafs for the front with a larger curve to give me more pitman arm clearance? the stock leafs in the front are almost flat, but all these trucks with lifts i see their leafs are a lot taller and have a big curve to them

highboy lift should be a 2 inch lift. I was naive when i first lifted my truck. I wanted skyjacker so i went with them. I have a 69 highboy so the 4 inch lift from sky jacker placed me around a total lift of 6-8 inches. i wanted new springs because mine were shot. There were broken leafs in the front and the highboy springs themselves became flat. If i could do it over again i would go with super duty lift spring in the front then 63 inch chevy springs in the rear. I have heard this allows a ton of flex in the suspension. 75F350 seems to have the truck with the best setup of this, chasetruck754 is a friend of his so if he does not see this chasetruck may... hopefully he will chime in. If you look hard enough you can find a link to his photobucket on this forum so where, luckily i have google chrome so i looked through some coding and found it for you. here ya go i would find the pics of his trucks. thanks man.

i see how the shackle flips looks, but since i dont have the truck yet im not exactly sure how it looks before the flip haha

heres the truck

i think a 2" lift would look great, but again, im not exactly sure which route to go. preferably i would like all new parts and leafs. but at the same time keep it on the budget side. skyjacker is so expensive, i would rather just get some leafs and shocks
