Does anybody know what the length of the front driveshaft should be? I was just reading this TSB

i would say get your rear driveshaft balanced, its cheap and easy, and if its not that, i would have to guess tires

That sounds good. but they removed my drive line completely and drove the truck in 4wheel and it still does it, they also took off my tires and put new wheels and tires off of another truck that had no problems onto my truck, during there whole testeing.

This may be a little off subject but I had a 2wd chev pickup that had a vibration problem. Changed...tires, rims, rebuilt driveshaft, front end, TC in tranny, rear end, finally pulled the moter and dumped the body. Installed the moter in my CJ7 and lo and behold the shake is still there.....................replaced the harmonic balancer and problem solved.................man was I pissed. Motor was new long block and the shop that put it in must have bumped it on installation.

i thought about that too. i tried it though, i put the trans it neutral, and shut the engine off around 55mph. as it coasted through 45,44,43,42,41,40,39,38mph it still had the vibration.

That coasting test gave me a thought about mine. My 30-35 mph slight vibration that has been there for years. I am living with it, but don't like it. the coasting test would do me no good because mine occurs only during acceleration. Any thoughts on that?

So they removed your rear driveshaft, and drove the truck using only the front, and it was still there? What vibrates, steering wheel, 4wd shifter, whole truck? If theres a noise, weres it come from?

The steering wheel is fine, the front of the truck feels fine. It just feels like my whole cab is falling apart around me, and when i look at the tailgate in my mirror i can see what looks like the back of the truck just bouncing.

Im thinking im gonna check out my shocks, maybe the truck does just naturally ride that rough, and the shocks dampen it enough to hide the roughness. I really dont know if im even on the right track, im just trying to think of any little thing, that the dealership might have over looked.

im going to shy away from the shocks being the culprit, because i have NEW Bilstein 5100's and it has the vibration still. how about a rear tranny mount, at the crossmember?

do you think that the tranny mounts or crossmember idea would still do it with no drivelines, or even with the trans in neutrial and the engine off?

anyways i checked my shocks and their not in the best of shape, but after thinking about it i dont think good shocks could hide that vibration. i ll probably end up still getting new shocks though.

When i replaced u-joints and carrier bearing I also replaced the tranny mount. I replaced all 4 shocks as well. I was unable to get to my appointment on friday, but I am going this week. I am 95% sure its in the driveline.

I read the previous thread about this same issue. I just happened to be watching a tv show a couple days later and they had a segment about Balance Masters. It supposedly balances wheels, drive shafts and etc. by using liquid mercury. I am not saying it will work but here is the web sight. www.balancemasters.com. If anyone tries these please let me know because I have the exact same problem between 42 and 45mph.

One would think Ford could figure this issue out? My 74 f 100 rode nicer with bias plys than my 99 superduty. I still have my vibration as well, but no warranty. Im learning to live with my side mirrors vibrating enough that is is difficult to see at 45 mph.

If their ase mastertech couldnt figure it out i guess all the dealership is really good for is ripping people off.

My Dad used something similar to that when I was a kid. It didn't use liquid mercury, but rather it was a hoop that attached to the tire rim and was filled with steel shot. It worked as advertised, no tire balancing problems at all.
