Casting Number Question

Hey, My FE block has a DT4E casting number, And information on the web as to engine size via casting number is confusing. Some sources say 360, some say 390. What do I have ? any help appreciated.

D=70's T=truck 4=1974 E=engine. try the FE forum, or check out mil1ion's website(he's usually in the 73-79 forum) he's got alot of decoding info.

Lots of luck decoding any FE except a SCJ or Side Oiler! All Ive ever seen have 352 cast on the drivers side front and the only true test is measure bore and stroke.

Well, here's a related question, will an Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold for a 390 work on a 360 ?

Yes, same block and heads - different pistons and crank.

The casting number should read D4TE unless a caster got things turned around that day.
