My '56 F-100 has a T98 transmission in it. Is there another 4-speed transmission that has the same bolt pattern at the bellhousing as the T98? I'd like to be able to use all 4 gears instead of just the top three.
What are you trying to accomplish? Unless you buy an overdrive unit 4th gear will most likely be a 1:1 ratio. I would be looking for an overdirve unit if I were doing a swap.

Thanks for your comments. What I'm trying to do is to replace the T98 with a 4-speed that does not have a 6:1 non-synchromesh first gear, so that I will have four useful gears. I realize that whatever 4-speed I install will most likely have direct drive, that is 1:1 fourth gear. What I'm looking for is a transmission that will bolt up in place of the T98 and have a first gear with a useful ratio, such as 3.5:1, not a stump-pulling 6.3:1.
Yes, One of them - I can't remember which - was made in both close and wide ratios. The close ratio had something like a 4:1 first gear. I'm not sure if the T18/T19 had the same bolt pattern as the T98. If they did, that could make an acceptable swap. Do you know if they had the same bolt pattern, input splines, and input-shaft length as the T98?
I can't say for sure. I know the T98 was used behind flatheads and Y-blocks. The T18 and T19 were used behind FEs. They may have been used behind later Y-blocks. Someone else may know better than me. There is a site, I can't think of it now, that lists the different manual transmissions with the ratios. Try searching Borg Warner or standard transmissions. The site may have had applications, also.
The T18 replaced the T98. It was introduced in 1966. The T19 was introduced in 1968 and featured a taller synchronized first gear. I just found this on a site by typing in T18 transmission. Can't tell if it will bolt to a Y-block.
The T98 used a larger input shaft and front bearing hub, so the hole in the bell housing is too big for any of the later trannies. I think the 3 speeds used on the Y blocks had the smaller input and bearing retainer, so you could probably use a later tranny with a 3 speed bell housing.
