Hi folks,
You can tell I don't post much by the post count and I'm a bit new here. But like Momma said "If ya got nothin' to say....shaddap"
Anywho, yes all diesels make clacks and noises, I'm well aware of that. But my '97 Powerstroke Turbo seems to clack a bit loader even when warmed up. She's only got 150k on her, but a lot was towing.
I'm just wondering if any of you folks have ever found a need to adjust the valve lash at any time in your trucks life (excluding rebuilds).
I'm new to diesels and used to doing it on gas engines every 10k or so, so hence the question.
Actually there are adjustments to be made, whether they be hyd. or solid lifters.
You get wear in cam lobes, push rods, rocker arms and weak springs. Cam lobe wear would be a bad thing (or at least more work), but the others are wearable parts and a few thousanths difference can make a big difference in noise, perforemance, and fuel mileage, which is why I asked if you guys ever went that deep on long run maintenence.
Thanks for the pic, there is no ajustment. And, no, I've never had one apart which is part of why I posed the question.
Sorry if I seemed snippy there, but I'm a thickheaded French millwright, and "no you can't" doesn't count much to me; explanations and pics go much further, thanks for doing so.
My apologies if I got off onn the wrong foot with anyone, no offense was intended. Hoping to be back to learn more about these puppies.
