My 01 350 superduty 4x4 crew cab diesel has started making a "popping" type noise at the rear of the crew cab(passenger side I think) I heard that this might be something to do with the cab mounts...anybody have any info on this? thanks...Brent m.
yes it can be the mounts /the bolt passing through the mount catches on the sheetmetal and makes the noise.
Also loose mounts can cause it also.
retorquing the mounts sometimes fixes it.
When doing the above put the truck on level concrete because of frame flex/

Also I forgot to mention that we had a few cc that had broken welds in the cab floor.
so chk out all the seams running laterially across the frame

I have an '01 F250 CC and have the same problem, although my noise sounds as if it is coming from somewhere in the body itself. I know with sound transfer it can be deceiving as to the location. I'll have to check out the cab mounting bolts. Any specific torque or just give them all you can?
the Torque spec is only 60ft/lbs.
You also need to determine if the mount bushings are distorted and no longer provide the insulating quality they had when new.

Mine started doing it almost as soon as I got the truck when it was new. It has since gotten less noticable which makes me wonder what the heck is going on. Usually when you have a noise like that it gets worse as time goes on, not better.
