was the screen in the fuel tank checked, both at the pickup foot and in the mixing valve. (white assembly attached to fuel sending unit)?

Bonanza,
you either have to drop the tank, or remove the bed to access the top of the tank. check out the link below, or if it doesn't work look at the first thread on the list named : FTE guidelines, general information, common mods, etc. under hutch mods the second one gives some good pics of the screen in the mixing valve.

also if your going to all the trouble to drop your tank, you ought to do the harpoon mod, also in the same thread as listed above, this mod will allow you to fill your tank much faster.
Instead of fooling with the mixing valve screens, i got a Prepump and In-Tank Kit from diesel innovations which eliminates the mixing valve and screens completly, so no more having to drop the fuel tank to clean screens, and it also eliminates the fuel quick connects that leak air into the fuel system. air is bad for injectors. eliminating the air will also make your truck run better and get rid of some of the injector knock. if yu decide to go with this, you will need to get a fuel line disconnect tool pretty cheap at the auto parts store

hopefully cleaning, or removing the screens will fix your problem.

what did ford do to ensure that your lines are clear, did they blow out the line back into the tank? which will just blow the crud into the fuel only to clog the screen again, or did they drop the tank to clean the screens out?

Bloomy63, I Don't Know. They Just Said The Line Was Clean And They Ran A Better Ground. I Don't See Any Other Ground Wiring. It Is A Harness That Plugs In Above The Pump. Thanks For The Help, I Mit Have To Drop The Tank If The Sending Unit Is Out For The Gauge. Its Funny Though, It Worked Before They Changed The Pump!

Hey Bonanza,

Dropping the tank is no big deal. The hardest thing is getting the filler and vent hoses off and on. You can drop the tank, do the hutch and harpoon mods listed in the common mods section, and be back in business pretty quickly.

Oh yeah, run the tank pretty close to empty first. A tank full of fuel is not fun to handle. This is one of those mods and fixes that is well worth the time. Good luck!

Thank You Both Pastormiketkd & Bloom63 For Your Replies. I've Been Gone A Couple Days But Your Help Is Appreciated. I Will Do The Harpoon Mod When I Drop My Tank. My Gas Gauge Is One Of Those Things I'd Just Like To Fix. Also I Am Going To Try The Lie-o-meter Fix As Well. You've All Been A Big Help!!
