Well I have another 7-10 days with a POS Rental car. Against Matt M's advise I am letting them reskin the doors. According to them this is the only way to fix the problem on my truck. The truck is white and only a year old so hopefully the paint will match. I plan on keeping the truck for a long time so I want any issues that come up under warranty fixed correctly. I'm not happy about it, but I don't want to live with scratched windows, and the one time me or my wife don't clean the rubber trim I'm sure it will happen again. Wish me luck.

Make sure you tell them to blend the paint into the front fenders and rear door or the paint won't match. That's what happened to my truck and they consider it warranty paint and not blend unless you tell them to.Usually they charge extra for this but be sure and stand your ground that you didn't cause this they did and you want the paint blended free of charge.Tell them you also want new emblems as well oterwise they'll just two way tape the old ones back on.GOOD LUCK JOE

OK I got the truck back. They replaced the glass in the front windows and it looks like the rubber molding/gasket was replaced on all 4 doors. They didn't reskin the doors, when they sent it over to the bodyshop they were able to complete the repair without taking drastic measures. Something tells me that the guys at the bodyshop read correctly or better understood the TSB and were able to complete the repair. Anyway all went well for me looks good and everything still works.

newer TSB

I had a 2006 F250 in yesterday for the area rep to look at my scratched glass. He determined that it was not covered and would not be replaced. Their response was that the weatherstripping needed to be cleaned. This made no sense whatsoever. I googled the problem today and found this site, looked up all the info and brought a copy of the TSB back to the dealership. The service manager felt like a schmuck for not knowing about this and they are going to replace the glass and put in the new weatherstripping. He did call me back and say that the most recent TSB, newer than 06-5-8, 06-18-2 has the glass being changed out also if scratched.

FYI,
I had the glass replaced twice by Ford because the first time they did not replace the weather strip. Just make sure you wipe the weatherstrip cause the new one will still scratch it if stuff gets in there! My windows have small scratches from not cleaning the weatherstriping.

Has anybody had the rear door glasses in a crew cab replaced under these TSB's? Their not mentioned in the TSB. My front door glasses are bad and the one rear glass has some minor scratches in it.

I would assume they are the same TSB, if it is a standard window size, like the front, has the same weather stripping style. It probably has less scratches because of less use. I would definitely get it replaced also. Big difference.

i have an 06 crewcab that i got in august of 06. i haven't noticed any scratches at all. i haven't cleaned my felt but i plan on doing it now. i don't put my rear windows down that often. i hope i never have to have my dealer do anything like that because even under warranty, things get screwed up and you get tint that is a film put on, instead of the factory tinted windows. that is crazy that the body shop the film on, instead of the dealer ordering you factory tints for the rear. maybe they fixed the problem so the later 06's were using a different weatherstripping?

I printed off the TSB for the window scratches but where can I find the TSB number?

06-18-2 is the TSB number, if you printed off the TSB, should be on it somewhere
