hello! I recently purchased a 1967 ford f600 flat bed w/ lift from my grandfather. The cab is a rust bucket. I was thinking about buying a late-model cab (such as a f800) and swapping it w/ the f600. Can this be done?? Also, I'd like to swap out the 330 for a diesel. Any advice is appreciated!!
Welcome to FTE!
It might be difficult to make a newer cab fit, depending on what year it comes off of. On that style of truck, there is enough room to put just about anything under the hood. If you want to keep it all Ford, they had their own inline six diesel in the 80's, 401cid, about 170hp in stock trim.
how difficult would it be to make ,say a 1986 f8000 cab fit?? And as far as a gas problem, there's no way I'd be seen in a gasoline dumper. A gas-powered dump truck makes about as much sense as a step-side truck!!
Very different, it's not a pickup style cab. You could probably put a cab from up to a 79 F-600 or smaller on that truck with no mods. I do know that the 800 and larger from around 77-78 and up are physically larger than the 600 down, and don't use a pickup cab.
