Power Steering is in.

Used the directions found in the Tech articles (Thanks NOD). Had p/s box reworked for reverse direction. I tried to use the original steering shaft but that didn't work too well so I had a new one built using Spicer parts. Pictures in gallery I think (I had trouble loading them). Most of the installation went pretty well but I could not get everything to center - p/s box, steering wheel, drag link, and tires at the same time. The steering wheel would turn more to one side than the other. This p/s box turns 4 times lock to lock but when I put everything together it would turn 1.5 turns one way and 2.5 turns the other way. To fix this problem the pitman arm would have to be repositioned. The problem with that is the keyways on the pitman arm only allow it to be installed one way on the power steeing shaft. What I did was to use a hack saw to "add" new splines on the pitman arm. The keyways are two spline lengths long so I just hacksawed a new spline directly in the middle of each keyway. This allowed me to install the pitman arm at any angle I needed. I lined up the tires, steering box, drag link and steering wheel....then installed the pitman arm. Now everything is centered and the steering wheel turns 2 full turnes each way as it should. I didn't make up this fix. I found a website for Jeeps that did this to their pitman arms when adding p/s until someone started manufacturing them with splines all the way around. I added my new larger tires and wheels and now it is no problem turning them. Check out my gallery for some pics of the install.
