Since it kinda plays in. Does anyone have any thing to say about COMPUSTAR alarms. Good or Bad?? I found a place around here that will install for about $665.00 and another place that wants $800 for the same thing (i think). Any way. im just wondering if its worth the money or would i be just as good, going with a viper or something like that, that has the turbo cool down on it to?? thanks.

As upset as it may make some to hear most police departments will NEVER assign an officer to investigate a specific auto theft. The paperwork is written, it is entered into the stolen vehicle system (SVS) and no one will ever see that report again unless the vehicle is recovered. The exception would be if there appeared to be some sort of specific pattern or series going on where a undercover operation could be set up.

Like it or not vehicle theft is property crime. Departments with limited resources will concentrate on crimes against persons before property crimes every time.

Sorry if I am telling you something you didn't already know.

When my truck was broken into in Houston, 3 or 4 years ago, there was a cop sitting in the hotel lobby...he wouldn't even walk out to the parking lot to take a look. All I got was a theft report # over the telephone.

When my trailer was stolen earlier this year from my business, all the cops did was take the report over the phone...even though there was physical evidence at the scene of the crime.

At least my home town cops came out and did a full investigation when my truck got broken into in my driveway...fingerprints and everything....but, the punks hit over 20 vehicles that night in my sub-division...got the little @^$%*), too.

Also, NEVER shoot a person trying to break into your truck. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get blood spatter off seats, carpet, headliner, etc??? (see pulp fiction)

Wait until they get out of the truck, then pop them in the back.

I have lived in the houston area for 26 years. It IS the ***-crack of the world in my oppinion...hot, humid, people are mean and unfreindly, full of thieves. Im in the process of getting a house 30 mins outside of Houston. I cannot stand it very much longer.

You just can't beat the Viper's...The good thing is that as long as it is installed at a DEI certified dealer it carries a lifetime warranty on parts, service and installation anywhere in the USA.

I figured that I would share a Houston story with you. I was at one of the HPD stations a few weeks back doing some work and when I walked out to my truck I noticed about 8 people standing around someones nice new truck on the side of the building, so I asked one of the officers with me what was going on, and they told me that another officers truck was broken into and they cleaned him out. That tells you just how brave they are here. To do it in the PD parking lot.
