I have just put a tilt column from a 78 F-150 Lariat into my 77 F-150 XLT as part of an interior upgrade and I was wondering where the neutral safety swich goes. On my strait column it was bolted to the bottom of the column. There is no place to put it on the tilt and I need to know where the factory located them in factory tilt trucks. Also the wires in thre plug are different colors, will this matter in the function of signals, fourways, or horn?
The neutral safety switch on the '78 and '79 fords attaches to the shift arm at the transmission. It also controls the backup lights. As far as the wiring, I am not familiar with that. Sorry.

This is the problem with this swap.
The wiring and harnesses.
Yes, The NSS goes to the side of the tranny.
The wiring to the NSS in 78 comes from main harness under the dash to the firewall.
You are going to need the wiring from the 78 to make it all work .
I have a couple more questions for you guys, #1- will my truck start if I just tie the existing switch up under the dash? #2- Will my signals, fourways and horn still work if I just plug in the harness on the column to the one in the truck?
I have the tranny out of the 78, now I need to know how hard it is to change the nss over to my 77 c6. I took the nss off but now I see that the linkage has to be changed as well, is this difficult to do? Reply ASAP thanx Chris
