Fellas
I found 2 excellent replacement door panels. But before put them on, I reenforced them by fiberglassing the corner that crack.
I will post pictures. I'm going to fix my cracked ones and keep them just incase. I know there were many that were asking how to fix them.
I picked them up at a wreakers. He has about 40, from 86-97. From scrap to in very good condition, give or take the smashed in sides. One even has new Monroes. I'm getting off Monday for 5$. My Monroe shocks are lifetim, but new ones for 5$ for all 4.
Theres one, with 10Ks on the 4lt 97 motor/tranie. I'm picking out for 100$.
I've picked up a replacment Dig dash 2$, New BJs free, Alum Rims for 10$, a new unused consol 10$, I can go on and on. I have not found any good replacement Sport running boards and under body AC lines. Mine are rusted out. I have even tryed the southern states. But no go. If anyone has any good platforms, email me.
If not I'm going to build some custom platforms our of Alum.
But I have spent about 200$ for stuff that would cost 1000$
Pablo, I had the same thing. Roll down the window and spray the tracks (black velvet slits on each side) with silicone spray. Run the window up and down a few times and re-apply silicone if necessary. That should fix your problem.
You might need to grease the steel tracks for the lifters. There is a roller on the end of the lift arm that slides back and forth in a steel channel. Pop off the door cover and see. It's really awkward to get to, and you will get grease all over your hands trying to dab into the channel.
Well fellas
I couldn't get my pictures to upload.
But heres how you can repair a cracked door panel.
1. Get some fiberglass
2. Fully sand down the back of the panel, where the crack is.
3. Apply the fiber glass as per instructions. note step 4
4. I put a small piece of wood dowel on the inside. To keep it from flexing. But anything would do, if it does not flex.
5. On mine, 94 XLT, my door panel was missing one of the clip inserts. This is the cause for them to crack. The door flexes and after a while will just crack. So I cut one off a old door panel, postioned it 5" centre above the last one on the back side outer edge and fibered over it.
6. No need to do anything else after, just wait and re install your panels. Unless the skinn is cracked. If so, you have to do this to a new set, or as a friend of mine did, just recover them.
It took me about an hr to do both, that is from start to finish.
